hotel of the month Burj Al Arab
Dubai

For the seasoned traveller who has “ Been everywhere, done everything” this is the hotel that will put the smile back on your face and have you shouting “Wow”. A pristine Rolls-Royce Silver Seraph limousine waiting for you at the airport is just the start of a journey into a world that is quite unreal for those other than Royalty and ever so spoilt multi-millionaires.

As you drive across a bridge to the sail-shaped structure, built on its own island, you notice a large number of immaculately dressed hotel staff. At this point you expect to see Tom Cruise or a similarly famous celebrity in the car behind, however all these people are here to greet and welcome YOU! What is more they all know your name and welcome you wholeheartedly to the Burj Al Arab.

One of the aims of this hotel is to create a very special experience for all of their guests. They certainly succeed and you cannot help but feel rather important and start wondering if they have in fact mistaken you for another regular guest of the same name.

The welcome continues as you enter the hotel with brief refreshments from a new welcoming party. A delightful member of staff from guest services’ guides you up to the main reception area, at this stage there is so much to take in, two huge glass encased coral reefs, a splendid waterfall, a magnificent blend of beautiful bold colours.

Viewing the world’s tallest atrium brings a realization that you are staying in an architectural marvel. The cost of building the hotel seems the only question the staff are unable to answer, however you are informed with a wry smile that “everything you see that is gold, is gold”.

Each floor has an individual reception and concierge, there is no formal checking in. Your personal butler, who is, of course, at your disposal throughout your stay, deals with these matters. All of the 202 duplex suites are magnificent, the level of luxury is unrivaled and the list of facilities seems never-ending.

A large reception area, a regal sweeping staircase, breathtaking ocean views, 42” plasma TV screens are just some of the features in every suite.

Suites are all extremely large and range from one-bedroom, offering 170 square meters, through to the palatial Royal suite set on two floors and providing 780 square meters.
Rotating beds, a private cinema and dressing rooms larger than most hotel bedrooms are just a few of the extra amenities provided in the Royal suites.

Dining at Burj Al Arab offers further unique experiences. Amongst the restaurants are Al Mahara, a seafood restaurant that is reached by a submarine journey, starting from the hotel lobby, and taking guests on a mesmerizing trip through marine life to the restaurant entrance.
The other end of the building is Al Muntaha, which is suspended 200 meters above the Arabian Gulf and reached by a scenic lift. Cuisine throughout the hotel is outstanding and dining at any of the restaurants is an experience in itself.

The general manager, Mr. Christophe Schnyder, and his charming team of staff provide a faultless service, complimenting a hotel that has without doubt set new standards of luxury in the world of hotels.
